General Rental InformationThe renter and the driver have to be in possession of a valid driving licence.

Special rental information by booking of Prepaid rates
Changing booking
A booking can be changed up to 48 hours before the start of the rental (on availability) in return for an alteration charge of EUR 20.17. Any payment already made towards the rental will not be refunded; nor shall any differential amount be refunded if this alteration leads to a lesser rental cost.
Cancellation
A booking can be cancelled before the rental begins. In the event of cancellation, the payment in advance already made towards the rental shall be paid back subject to a cancellation charge, which will be withheld and shall be in the amount of the rental charge ( including any extras and charges) for a maximum of 3 rental days. Cancellations can be made online or in writing and must be addressedto: Sixt Italy Headquarters, Win Rent S.p.a., Viale delle Arti, 123, I - 00054 Fiumicino (Roma)
No-show
In the event that the booked vehicle is not collected or not collected at the agreed time the rental charge already paid shall be withheld in full.
Age Restrictions
Minimum age in Italy is 21 years and the driver has to be in possession of a valid driving licence for at least 1 year.
Conditions of Payment
Flexi Tariff
We accept all credit cards from internationally recognised credit card companies - such as American Express, Diners Club, Eurocard/Mastercard, Visa. The credit card has to be in the driver's name
We do not accept any prepaid cards or debit cards (Visa Electron).
Cash Payment is not accepted.
Rental of the following vehicle groups requires 2 credit cards:
- IVAR, FDMR, FDAR, FWMR, FVMR, PFAR.
Customers with Sixt Corporate/Company Card, Gold Credit Card or Platinum Credit Card also require only 1 credit card for these groups.
Sixt CarExpress Servicecard is only accepted in combination with a valid Credit Card.
An advance charge approval is obtained for the chosen means of payment as a security. The exact deposit is determined on collection since the amount is dependent on the vehicle (amount of the rental cost and the excess applicable). Different amounts are possible.
Prepaid Tariff
The following credit cards are accepted: American Express, Diners Club, Eurocard/Mastercard, Visa.
The renter must be the owner of the indicated creditcard. Theauthorised driver details and method of payment will be confirmed at reservation stage and cannot be amended. The confirmed credit card should be valid and available for presentation on collection ofthe vehicle. All extra costs that occur during the car rental will be charged to this credit card.
By booking of a prepaid rate, the credit card will be charged before the startof rental, directly with the estimated total amount of rental. The amount that will be charged on your credit card comprises the price of rental as well as all additional extra fees.
The rental charge(plus any other charges agreed such as, e.g. exemptions from liability, delivery charges, airport charges etc.) plus value added tax in the statutory amount applicable from time to time must, as a matter of principle, be paid in full for the agreed rental period, i.e. if the vehicle is collected late or returned early there shall be no refund.
General Insurance Conditions
Third Party Insurance (TI)
Insurance coverage for the vehicle rented includes Third Party Liability with a unlimited cover for personal injuries and material damages.
Excluded from the insurance is the use of the vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods. All insurance cover as part of the rental contract will become void, in particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or if the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driver's licence at the time of the event giving rise to claim.
Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
Collision Damage Waiver removes the drivers responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of damage.
CDW is mandatory in Italy.
All rates include CDW.
The customer is only responsible for the following amounts:
EUR 900.- MCMR, ECMR, EDMR; EUR 1,500.- CDMR, CLMR, CWMR, IDMR, IVMR, SDMR, SWMR; EUR 2,500.- IVAR, FDMR, FWMR, SDAR, FDAR, SVMR, FVMR, PFAR.
Theft Protection (TP)
Theft Protection removes the drivers responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of theft.
TP is mandatory in Italy.
All rates include TP.
The customer is only responsible for the following amounts:
EUR 1,600.- MCMR, ECMR, EDMR; EUR 2,000.- CDMR, CLMR, CWMR, IDMR, IVMR, SDMR, SWMR; EUR 2,700.- IVAR, FDMR, FWMR, SDAR, FDAR, SVMR, FVMR, PFAR.
In case of total or partial theft of the rented vehicle in Campania, Catania and Puglia the responsible amounts quoted previously will be doubled.
Top Cover LDW
If CDW and TP are already included in the rates, the renter can choose Top Cover LDW to eliminate the Non-Waiverable Responsibility for CDW and TP.

If Top Cover LDW is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts:
EUR 0.- MCMR, ECMR, EDMR, CDMR, CLMR, CWMR, IDMR, IVMR, SDMR, SWMR, IVAR, FDMR, FWMR, SDAR, FDAR, SVMR, FVMR, PFAR.
If Top Cover LDW is accepted, the customer will be held liable in the event of theft in the regions of Campania, Apulia and in Catania with the single amount of responsibility.

Within city limits a Delivery/Collection Service charge of EUR 24.20 applies.
Outside city limits EUR 1.82 per km will be charged (a minimum of 30 km will be charged).

Out of hours, a delivery/collection surcharge of EUR 36.30 applies.
Out Of Hours
A surcharge of EUR 36.30 applies for all bookings/rentals out of hours.
One-Way Rentals
National
For One-Way-Rentals within Sixt locations in Italy a charge of EUR 60.50 applies.
One-way-Rentals between the mainland and Sardinia are not allowed.
International

Cross Border Rentals & Territorial Restrictions
For ferrying the car an advanced written authorization from Sixt Italy is required. The use of car ferries to Sardinia is not permitted.
Cross Border Rentals are allowed to the following countries:
Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland.
Cross Border Rentals to Croatia and Slovenia are allowed with the exeption of the following vehicle group: FDAR, PFAR, FWMR, SVMR and FVMR.
Cross Border Rentals to Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hugary are allowed with the exception of the following vehicle group: IDMR, SDMR, IVAR, FDAR, PFAR, FWMR, SVMR and FVMR.
In case of violation against Cross Border & Territorial Restrictions all insurances lose their validity.
Premium Location Fee
A Premium location fee of 16% on the basis rental rate occurs for rentals at airport and train stations.
Registration Fee/Road Tax
A Registration Fee (Road Tax) of EUR 2.68 per day occurs.

Navigation System:
Portable navigation systems must be returned to the pick up location otherwise the customer will be charged of Euro 50.00. In case of loss, damaging or theft the amount chargeable is of Euro 200.00.
During the period of 15th November until 31st March snow chains are mandatory in some regions in Italy and will be charged locally.
Additional Driver
An Additional Driver Surcharge of EUR 8.47 per day applies.
Refuelling Charge
All vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel and should be refilled prior to return to Sixt, otherwise a charge of EUR 3.04 per litre of petrol or EUR 2.89 per litre of diesel.
Other Fees and Taxes
Lost of Key
A Loss Of Key Fee of EUR 300.00 applies.
Administation Fee For Fine
If the renter has a traffic/parking fine during the rental the renter will be charged an Administration Fee of EUR 42,35 together with the first settlement-proposition.
The renter is liable for payment of all traffic/parking fines occuring during the rental.
VAT
21%
All rates are inclusive of VAT (if VAT incurs).

We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.
If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
